Salon Insurance Cost
Beauty isn’t cheap, but your insurance can be affordable.
Salon insurance shouldn’t cost a fortune. There’s an easy way to save time and money, all while giving the technicians, stylists, and contractors you work with the liability protection they deserve.
How Much Does Salon Insurance Cost?
Salon insurance costs as low as $349 for a whole year, or $31.08 per month, when you get insured through Beauty & Bodywork Insurance (BBI). The exact price you pay can vary depending on your specific business needs. Looking for an individual policy? Check out our coverage details page.
Other insurers often charge per employee. BBI doesn’t. Instead we calculate your cost by the number of stations you have, services offered, and any added coverages.
Beauty Salon Insurance Cost
With one flat rate, beauty salon insurance costs start at $349 per year, or $31.08 per month.
Hair Salon Insurance Cost
With one flat rate, hair salon insurance costs start at $349 per year, or $31.08 per month.
Nail Salon Insurance Cost
With one flat rate, nail salon insurance costs start at $349 per year, or $31.08 per month.
Note: The BBI salon policy can cover 250+ methods performed in one location, such as beauty, hair, nail, and other services.
Your insurance premium increases based on the number of stations you need to cover. The number of stations, however, is not required to match the number of employees you have. For example, you could have 12 total technicians working in 8 stations, tables, or rooms.
Station-based premiums simplify the insurance paperwork process by allowing you to insure all your employees under one policy — even if the number of employees changes, or the technicians themselves change.
Number of Stations | Premium |
2 Stations | $349 |
3 Stations | $449 |
4-5 Stations | $549 |
6-7 Stations | $575 |
8-9 Stations | $675 |
10 Stations | $775 |
Oh Snip! ✂️ Don’t Let Accidents Hold Your Business Back
Would you rather pay $349 for insurance, or $30,000 for a claim?
If something goes wrong in your salon, insurance is designed to help you cover the costs. A single claim may be anywhere from a thousand to hundreds of thousands of dollars in expenses. It can be stressful to come up with those funds, especially if it eats into your revenue or comes out of your own pocket.
Salon insurance is an easy way to ensure business continues as usual, even when an accident occurs. It’s a small price to pay for peace of mind when the alternative could be a lawsuit that drains your funds.

All policies have conditions, limitations, and exclusions, please read the policy for exact verbiage. Claim scenario circumstances vary in nature and similar claims do not guarantee coverage. You could be held liable for any damage done to your client. Make sure that you are aware of any allergies that your clients may have beforehand, and always work with precautions and care.
4 Factors That Impact Salon Insurance Costs
1. Number Of Stations
The number of stations you insure raises your salon insurance costs. More stations mean more risk for your business, so the increased coverage increases the premium cost.
2. Services Offered
The range of services you provide can affect the cost of insurance. Different treatments and services may require additional coverage, influencing the overall price.
3. Optional Coverages
4. Claims History
Sometimes your claims history can impact insurance costs. If you have a history of filing costly claims, you may see your premiums go up.
Some insurance companies also raise your rates based on location, the number of technicians you employ, or the yearly revenue of your business.
BBI does not raise your premium for these reasons, making our policy more affordable for most salon owners.
Is Insurance Required For Salon Owners?
Salon insurance requirements can vary — some businesses may be part of a franchise or chain that requires it. Sometimes, a building owner will require proof of insurance before leasing a space to you.
Most business owners recommend getting insurance, whether required or not, so you have peace of mind. You don’t want to get caught up in a lawsuit or stuck with a pricey medical bill and no way to pay it. Salon insurance provides invaluable benefits that save you money and protect your business in the long run.
Financial Protection:
In the event of accidents, property damage, or lawsuits, insurance acts as a safety net that helps you cover the cost of a claim. It prevents unexpected expenses from crippling your business and helps you stay afloat during challenging times.
Client Confidence:
Insurance coverage demonstrates your commitment to your clients’ well-being and provides them with peace of mind. It builds trust and loyalty by showing you take their safety seriously.
Meets Requirements:
Depending on your business or location, having salon insurance may be a requirement. By obtaining the necessary coverage, you ensure you’re operating within the bounds of a contract or local laws.
It’s not a matter of if an accident happens, it’s when. The best thing you can do for your business is to be prepared to handle it when it does.

Common Questions About Salon Liability Insurance
Why Do I Need Salon Liability Insurance?
You need salon insurance for claims your business may face. Even if you don’t perform a service yourself, you’re liable for accidents your employees may cause.
For example, if a customer suffers an allergic reaction to a chemical in a hair product, they may name you, the business, and the employee in a lawsuit. Salon insurance could help pay for the legal fees, medical bills, and court settlements.
You may also need salon owner insurance to fulfill franchise contract agreements.
What Does Salon Liability Insurance Usually Cover?
Salon liability insurance typically covers bodily injury, property damage, and other harm done to others. Some examples include:
- General injuries like slip-and-fall injuries
- Service injuries like allergic reactions, chemical burns, or accidental cuts
- Damage to client property like a leather jacket stained by spilled acetone
- Dissatisfied clients claiming you didn’t provide the service you promised
- Advertising mistakes, like unintentionally copying another salon’s brand logo
