Fire Legal Liability Coverage

Get essential coverage for the space you work out of — in case your business accidentally causes damage to it.

What Is Fire Legal Liability Insurance (Damage to Premises Rented to You)?

Fire legal liability and damage to premises rented to you coverage is protection for your rented workspace in case you unintentionally damage it. Think of it as coverage that makes it less risky for you to rent a station, booth, or studio!

Both are included in your Beauty & Bodywork Insurance (BBI) policy, under general liability coverage.

The Difference Between Fire Legal Liability and Damage to Premises Rented

Fire Legal Liability and Damage to Premises Rented are titles for a specific type of insurance coverage that are often used interchangeably. In fact, they are two parts of the same policy offered by BBI. It works like this:

7 Days+

Fire legal liability coverage: Designed to cover fire damage to the property caused by your business if you rent for longer than seven days

>7 Days

Damage to premises rented: Designed to cover more types of damage to rented property if you rent for seven days or fewer

These names are often used interchangeably, but how they apply to your business depends on how long you’re renting a space: under seven days, broader coverage; over seven days, coverage just for fire.

What Does Fire Legal Liability Insurance Cover?

This two-in-one coverage is designed to cover:

  • Fire damage
  • Smoke damage
  • Water damage from sprinklers
  • Most types of other property damage under seven days

It covers rented locations like:

  • Booth space at an expo or trade show
  • Short-term studio or salon suite rentals
  • A suite or hotel room booked for a special occasion
  • Rented training or classroom spaces

This coverage doesn’t apply to:

  • Intentional damage
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Your own business personal property (requires Tools & Supplies Coverage)
  • Any damage other than fire after seven days

Who Needs Coverage for Fire Legal Liability?

Every beauty and bodywork professional needs this coverage! You’re always at risk of damaging property, whether you rent long-term or primarily do gigs at multiple locations.

This coverage comes standard with a BBI policy, tailored for massage therapy, esthetics, cosmetology, nail services, salons, spas, and many more beauty and bodywork modalities.

How Much Does Damage to Rented Premises Cost?

Fire legal liability (damage to premises rented) is automatically included in your BBI policy, which costs from $9.99/month or $96/year, giving you $300,000 in total annual coverage.

What Are Common Claims?

Don’t get burned by common claims like these. BBI’s got you covered.

FAQs About Fire Legal Liability Coverage

Long-term rental coverage is limited to fire damage only because other types of property damage are expected to be covered under a tenant’s property policy (different from general liability, which is your business’ responsibility for damages to others).

Yes, your coverage applies to accidental fire and property damage liability claims for spaces you rent by the hour!

If you’re legally responsible for the damage your client causes, this coverage can help pay for repairs — say a client knocks over a curling iron in a hotel room you rent for the day, causing damage to the carpet. If you aren’t at fault, the property owner’s insurance would typically respond instead.

Get coverage for fire and short-term property damage claims in a snap.
  1. Click “Buy Now” to start your purchase
