Whether you are performing a drastic haircut or a mere trim, as a hair stylist you have the skills to help your clients look their best. Beauty and Bodywork insurance's hair stylist liability insurance provides you with professional and general liability coverage as you work with sharp tools around people.
Hair stylists insurance provides coverage that protects both you and your salon from the financial impact of a liability claim. To make sure you have a strong base of liability protection, you'll want your policy to include general liability, professional liability, and business personal property coverage.
At Beauty & Bodywork Insurance (BBI), we keep insurance simple. You can purchase a hair stylists insurance policy for one of two easy prices: $96 for professional hairdressers and $67 for hairdressing students. You can also add one additional insured, such as a salon owner, for $15 or an unlimited number of additional insureds for $30. Our insurance includes a professional and general liability aggregate coverage of $3 million.
The short answer? Yes, you do need hair stylist insurance. The longer explanation is that hair stylists face a lot of potential liability risks. Chemicals in dyes, sharp cutting tools, and heat from styling tools can all injure a client, even if you're careful. In all of these situations, you could be liable for a variety of expenses, including medical bills, repairs, and legal fees.
In addition, if you rent space at a salon or other location, the owners may require you to have liability insurance—and to list them as an additional insured—before they hire you.
i. Please note these are brief definitions of coverage. Your policy may be more restrictive in its language. Refer to the actual policy for a complete description of coverages and exclusions. If you would like to see a sample policy, please contact us.
