Coverage Details

What Are Coverage Details in an Insurance Policy?

Insurance coverage details outline exactly how your policy protects you, including what losses are covered, for how much, and what rules apply. Think of it as your policy’s service menu — clearly defining what is and isn’t included in your coverage.

Why Insurance Policy Coverage Details Matter for Beauty and Bodywork Professionals

Your coverage details can make or break your next dream gig, especially if you need to meet specific insurance requirements. They help you:

  • Feel confident: Know what’s covered before filing a claim
  • Pass event checks: Match the required coverage limits and additional insured wording on your proof of insurance
  • Boost credibility: Let your clients know you’re covered in case of accidents and have clear details at the ready

Find your insurance coverage details on your declarations page, at the front of your policy document. This will show you:

  • Who is insured (you and any other specific parties)
  • The coverage types included
  • When coverage starts and ends
  • How much you’re covered for (limits)
  • Who the producer and carrier are
  • Any endorsements added
  • What’s not covered

Remember: You also have a snapshot of this information called your certificate of insurance (COI), but it’s not as detailed as your declarations page.

Your insurance policy has different coverage limits, which define how much money is available to you for certain claim payouts. For example, an aggregate limit is the maximum amount for the entire policy year, while the per-occurrence limit is the cap for each claim.

The key numbers to pay attention to in your insurance coverage details are your limits. Here are some examples of coverage limits you should verify:

Read the exclusions section of each coverage. Common things that aren’t covered include:

Some of these exclusions can be covered by adding an endorsement to your policy. If you have questions, chat with the Beauty & Bodywork Insurance (BBI) team — we’d love to help you fill coverage gaps! Contact us.
