What is Esthetician Insurance?

Esthetician insurance is coverage designed to financially protect your esthetics business from expensive claims related to your work. If a client is injured or has their property damaged while in your treatment room, your policy can help pay for claim costs, so they don’t all come from your pocket alone.

FAQs About Esthetician Insurance Coverage

Most estheticians need general and professional liability insurance, at a minimum. General liability can cover bodily injury and property damage claims, such as a client tripping in your space. Professional liability can protect against claims that your services or advice caused a client to get injured.

If you rent a booth, most landlords require you to carry both coverages and list them as an additional insured.

Yes, many salons, spas, clients, and landlords require estheticians to carry proof of insurance.

Beyond contract requirements, esthetician liability insurance is essential for financially protecting your business in case of claims. Working on clients’ complexions exposes you to risk at every appointment — insurance helps cover medical care, legal defense, and damages if something goes wrong.

Learn more: Why Estheticians Need Insurance.

Your esthetician insurance policy is effective as soon as you check out online. You’ll receive instant access to your user dashboard and digital certificate of insurance.

If you sell products as part of your esthetics business operations, you need product liability insurance in case an issue arises after the sale. Say clients love your self-tanning lotion, so you begin selling it — product liability insurance is designed to cover claims such as allergic reactions or defective packaging.

BBI only covers product liability for products used during your service, but does not cover products you sell. For coverage for retail skincare or other products, check out our sister company, Insurance Canopy’s product liability insurance.

Here’s a list of things we’ll ask for when you fill out an online application:

  • Policy preferences (Click on the policy you want and opt in or out of extra coverages.)
  • Personal info (Tell us your name, address, and some info about your business.)
  • Business activities (What services and activities are part of your business?)
  • Claim history (Have you ever submitted a claim to insurance before?)
  • Additional insureds (Who else needs their name on this insurance policy?)
  • Payment info (How would you like to buy your coverage?)

It’s that easy. You can skip the sales pressure and waiting around for quotes – it take 10 minutes or less to get quality insurance and get back to making your clients glow.
