How to Become a Massage Therapist in New Jersey
To become a massage therapist in New Jersey, you must obtain a massage therapist license from the New Jersey Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy. This license is required to practice massage therapy and needs to be renewed every two years. To apply for a license, you must:
- Complete an approved course of study in massage and bodywork therapy that is at least 500 hours
- Pass an exam offered by the NCBTMB or by the FSMTB (the MBLEX)
- Provide proof of coverage by a professional liability insurance policy
- Pay the application fee
